Salford City Council Grade 4B £42,503 - £45,495 per annum 36hrs per week, permanent

The role of Public Health Senior Intelligence Analyst is to support the development and delivery of research, data, evidence, information and intelligence gathering across Salford City Council and partner organisations.

We are looking for someone with professional knowledge gained through qualifications and/or relevant experience combined with a commitment to undertake further professional development in an area related to public health.

In addition to strong technical skills and/or partnership skills, the post holders will require excellent communication skills together with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with key staff across the City Council, NHS, and partner organisations and local communities as appropriate to their roles.

Main duties of the job

You will work with people across the city of Salford to deliver robust and accessible intelligence products in order to guide and inform evidenced based decision making and will produce intelligence relating to a wide range of topic areas including (but not limited to) health, demographics, housing, employment, education and social care. The intelligence products will include needs assessments, analytical reports and the development of tools to facilitate analysis and improve understanding.

You will work across the Council and wider health system supporting the delivery of improved outcomes for residents. Salford is part of Greater Manchester with its Public Service Reform Programme and devolution agendas bringing new opportunities.

  • Professional credibility through proven relevant experience
  • You will have an extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages including Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint
  • You will have experience of using geographic information systems, data visualisation tools and specialist statistical software packages e.g. ArcMap, QGIS, Tableau, Power BI, SQL, SPSS or R.

Desirable

  • It would be desirable that you had experience of economic analysis.
  • It would be desirable that you had an understanding and experience of health and social care data.
  • It would be desirable that you had experience of using segmentation tools e.g. Mosaic, Acorn.
