Job summary

Salford City Council Grade 4C £45,495 - £48,587 per annum 36hrs per week, fixed term to 31 March 2025

In this role as Engagement and Inclusion Lead, you will help tackle health inequalities through targeted engagement and inclusion work with communities, helping to deliver the Salford Locality Plan and the key public health strategies, and to provide direct work to tackle inequalities as the top priority.

You will join our Public Health team and will work across the Council and wider health system supporting the delivery of improved outcomes for residents. The post holder will need to ensure that the Public Health service have robust engagement and support in place with vulnerable and minority communities for minimising risk.

Main duties of the job

Working collaboratively with colleagues across the council, including those who lead on communications, equalities and inclusion, and cohesion, you will advocate for the needs of individuals and groups who may be disadvantaged by size, language, cultural or systemic barriers to accessing health, care, housing or NHS, or council services.

For all our fixed term posts, we are committed to review the contractual arrangements regularly in line with funding so we can retain talent within the public health team and continue to offer development opportunities.

We are looking for someone with professional knowledge gained through qualifications and/or relevant experience combined with a commitment to undertake further professional development in an area related to public health.

In addition to strong technical skills and/or partnership skills, the post holders will require excellent communication skills together with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with key staff across the City Council, NHS, and partner organisations and local communities as appropriate to their roles.
