Job summary
Salary range:£55,783 - £59,010 per annum
Work location:County Hall, Oxford
Hybrid working with attendance required at the primary and other work locations anticipated to be 4-8 times per month.

Main duties of the job
To help deliver the important national and local ambition to become smokefree, we are looking for a dynamic and innovative public health professional to take up a new and exciting role in our public health team as Public Health Programme Lead (Smoking and Tobacco).
Your primary role will be to work strategically with key stakeholders to develop and deliver innovative programmes of work to meet the smokefree ambition.
As a senior public health professional, you will have skills and experience in developing evidence based public health programmes, commissioning public health services, managing staff and budgets and be able to demonstrate the ability to work strategically with individuals from a variety of directorates and organisations. You will have excellent organsational and communication skills plus an ability to work under pressure on a suite of projects concurrently.

Its an exciting time for public health in Oxfordshire with the councils vision of becoming a greener, fairer and healthier county aligning with public health priorities including a shift towards focussing on more preventative approaches and aiming to close the health inequalities gap between different communities.
We are soon to launch Oxfordshires Health and Wellbeing Strategy for 2024-30 and there is a refreshed national drive towards creating a smokefree generation which is bringing increased funding to Oxfordshire. Smoking remains the leading cause of preventable illness and premature death, contributing significantly to inequalities.
