Main duties of the job

The work will involve family finding for children who are looked after by Oxfordshire County Council or Swindon Borough Council and/or recruiting, training, assessing and supporting prospective adoptive parents up until their child is formally adopted.

Face to face visits to prospective adopters and to children in their placements will be necessary and this can include travel outside of the Oxfordshire/Wiltshire area.

This is an exciting time to work in the adoption service, as we develop initiatives to find more adoptive families and tailor support. We are looking for an applicant who has experience and/or a genuine interest in this area and can demonstrate this.

About us

Adopt Thames Valley is a Regional Adoption Agency, and the participating local authorities are Oxfordshire, Swindon, (Brighter Futures for Children (Reading), West Berkshire, Wokingham, Bracknell, and Achieving for Children (Windsor and Maidenhead). The Regional Agency is hosted by Oxfordshire County Council.

There is two permanent vacancies in this team. The successful applicants will have an office base in either Oxford or Swindon, but will on occasion be required to work across the region and the post holders will also be supported to work from home through Oxfordshire's agile working programme.

The Team is very friendly and supportive, as well as being hard-working and very committed to adoption work. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in adoption to gain some experience and share their perspective and experience with us.
