Main duties of the job

As an Adult Community Commissioner you will be part of a team of four community commissioners working to develop, shape and provide services and community responses to meeting the needs of adults, including older people and working age adults.

You will deliver change through working with social care teams, a wide range of providers as well as with health and housing colleagues. You will ensure that services give best value and ensure that the lived experience of adults with needs is central to shaping services in the commissioning cycle.

As the Commissioning function moves ever closer to integrated commissioning across social care, health and housing you will be involved in shaping and implementing this. You, with commissioning colleagues, will be driving the changes to respond to meeting the needs of adults through a range of community led support and innovative solutions that lead to increase independence.

You will be a great communicator and collaborator and be able to make change happen. You will be able to access a range of learning and development opportunities so that your skills and knowledge keep growing and are kept up to date with current policy and developments.

In this role you will champion, influence and implement Adult Social Care values, vision and strategy to support people to have the best life and to safeguard them from harm.

The community will cover an area of the local authority and the full range of care and support needs will be covered by the Adult Community Commissioner. This includes championing and implementing the principles of community led commissioning and co-production. Work closely and informed by organisations (not exclusively) such as Think Local, Act Personal (TLAP) and National Development Team for Inclusion (NDTI).
