Jasmine House is a Supported Living House based in the town of Ely Cambridgeshire and supports adults with a learning disabilities in keeping their lives independent and safe. We provide accommodation and support for 4 adults with learning disabilities. The service operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. The role of Support Worker is to enable adults with a disability to live as independently as possible and to enjoy lifestyles as close to those enjoyed by other members of the community. We support and empower individuals to enhance the quality of their life, maximise potential and to continue to promote and develop independence skills within their home. You will report to the Senior Support worker and work in a small team providing practical support to our service users, building on their existing skills and abilities whilst respecting their individual needs and choices. Our Support Workers assist service users with all aspects of their care, with an emphasis on empowering them to develop and maintain their independence, skills and well-being. This includes supporting with personal care where needed, cleaning, shopping, and accessing community activities and opportunities. The role will also involve administration of medication. You will be using IT to update documents such as support plans, risk assessments and will have a good working knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and assessments of capacity. Our Support Workers are in regular contact with service users, their families and other professionals and partner agencies so strong communication skills are also essential. The working hours for this role is 37 per week. The shifts are on a 4-week rota which could be subject to change to meet service need. These will be during the week, at weekends or Bank Holidays (between 8am - 10pm.) Additional enhancements are paid for weekends and Bank Holidays. You will be required to work two weekend shifts twice each month and complete sleep-ins. The starting pay for the posts is £13.26 per hour (with enhancements for weekend and bank holiday shifts). Main duties of the job
You will have previous experience of supporting a person with a disability and a qualification in Health and Social Care or similar at Level 2 or above. You will have excellent communication skills and IT skills as well as a proficient level of written and spoken English for the purposes of case recording and to enable you to work towards the Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care if you do not already hold this qualification. You will also need the ability to demonstrate awareness and understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion, and the Mental Capacity Act as well as the need for safety and confidentiality in the role.
