Job summary
Jasmine House is a Supported Living House based in the town of Ely Cambridgeshire and supports adults with a learning disability The role of Support Worker is to enable adults with a disability to live as independently as possible and to enjoy lifestyles as close to those enjoyed by other members of the community. Main duties of the job
You will report to the Senior Support worker and work in a small team providing practical support to our service users, building on their existing skills and abilities whilst respecting their individual needs and choices. This includes supporting with personal care where needed, cleaning, shopping, and accessing community activities and opportunities. The role will also involve administration of medication. You will be using IT to update documents such as support plans, risk assessments and will have a good working knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and assessments of capacity. The working hours for this role is 37 per week. The shifts are on a 4-week rota which could be subject to change to meet service need. These will be during the week, at weekends or Bank Holidays (between 8am - 10pm.) Additional enhancements are paid for weekends and Bank Holidays. You will be required to work two weekend shifts twice each month and complete sleep-ins. The starting pay for the posts is £12.85 per hour (£19.27 per hour for Saturday hours- and £22.87 for Sunday hours). You will be completing a comprehensive training program and benefit from excellent career development opportunities as well as being part of a supportive team committed to delivering an excellent service for adults with disabilities. You will have previous experience of supporting a person with a disability and a qualification in Health and Social Care or similar at Level 2 or above. You will have excellent communication skills and IT skills as well as a proficient level of written and spoken English for the purposes of case recording and to enable you to work towards the Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care if you do not already hold this qualification. You will also need the ability to demonstrate awareness and understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion, and the Mental Capacity Act as well as the need for safety and confidentiality in the role.
