Job responsibilities

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Disability Social Care 0-25 Service as a full-time Team Manager in Cambridge.

As the Team Manager of the Disabled Childrens Social Work Team Cambridge you will be working alongside the other Children with Disabilities Teams (0-18) and the Young Adults Team (18-25). You will also work closely with our in-house providers of short breaks, health and education professionals and a range of private and voluntary organisations. Experience of partnership working and networking is therefore essential as well as experience of delegating tasks and the ability to lead, develop and motivate a team.

We pride ourselves on providing our Social Workers and alternatively qualified staff with a friendly, safe and supportive environment to work. As a Team Manager in the Disabled Childrens Social Work Team Cambridge you will be vital in providing this.

Your role will include allocating work, performance monitoring and supporting the development of the team. You will be able to think on your feet in terms of case allocation and understanding thresholds. You will have proven experience at being able to thrive in a busy environment and will have demonstrated resilience. Within the team we work with families under Child in Need, Child Protection and also Children in Care who meet our criteria. Prior experience and understanding of SEND is therefore essential, in addition to having a safeguarding background and experience in managing risk. You will also be responsible for supervision of the other members in the team which includes Senior Practitioner, Social Workers and Child Practitioner.

You will be working 37 hours per week on a permanent basis. This post will primarily be based out of the Fawcett House in Cambridge, but with the ability to work from home as part of a hybrid model.
