Your role and responsibilities

Suffolk County Council (SCC) delivers the 0 - 19 Healthy Child Service for the whole of Suffolk, which includes School Nursing, Health and Children's Centres, Family Nurse Partnership Services and our Health Business Centre.

We are a fully integrated service that can responsively support the needs of children and their families. SCC has invested in Staff Nurses to work alongside Health Visitors and Healthy Child Practitioners to facilitate improved public health outcomes.

You will:

  • Deliver the 0 - 19 Healthy Child Service for Suffolk
  • Support the needs of children and their families responsively

Job responsibilities

This post is designed to support the Health and Childrens Centre service by working directly with families to help support the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual wellbeing of children from pregnancy to 5 years, through the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme and Childrens Centre statutory framework.

You will be expected to plan and deliver effective and evidence based universal and targeted services to children and families from pregnancy to 5 years, as well as support the provision of an appropriate learning environment to enable other practitioners and students to develop, which will include mentoring.

This role will include group planning, delivery and evaluation as well as offering a home visiting programme focusing on the needs of those families on a universal and universal plus pathway. This role be key in support parents to develop a strong bond with their child and remain positive role models as their children grow, understanding their role as their childs educator.

You will work in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct, and other regulatory documents, ensuring your NMC registration is maintained.

You will directly support the needs of children and their families through the implementation of the care pathways, outlined in the Health & Childrens Centre Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and in accordance with clinical governance framework.

Through effective practice and multiagency working, you will effectively safeguard children and young people, which will include participation in safeguarding meetings and contributing to assessment processes.
