Job summary
The Public Health Business and Governance role is an exciting and critical post that is central to the Public Health Division.
You will lead on ensuring the smooth running of the Public Health Division working with the Director of Public Health. As a member of the divisional management team (DMT), you will contribute to important discussions and will work with heads of service in public health to support delivery of the teams Service Plan objectives.
You will be the link between the Division and other supporting functions in the Council, ensuring compliance with internal governance requirements and requests. You will lead on public health communications strategy, and a range of other projects and programmes. You will also provide line management support for placements.
This an opportunity for a candidate with an interest in Public Health to work alongside a Chief Officer in the local authority. The role provides an excellent overview of the breadth of local authority Public Health with a strong emphasis on continuous professional development, and great potential for future career opportunities.
Main duties of the job
We are looking to recruit a capable and ambitious person with good interpersonal skills. If you enjoy interactions with many different people, are highly organised, can deal with multiple deadlines comfortably, and can lead yourself and others effectively, then we want to hear from you.
Suitable candidates will have:
Experience or understanding of the public sector, preferably local government, and public health
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, able to build effective working relationships with the team and be able to work on their own initiative
Strong project management and organisational skills
A desire to learn and a commitment to continuous personal and professional development

The Public Health Division in Richmond and Wandsworth Councils is part of the London Boroughs of Richmond upon Thames and Wandsworths shared staffing arrangement (SSA).
