Job summary

The Childrens Complex Health Team are looking to recruit an individual with a passion for supporting children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities to access a range of educational and social opportunities to enable them to achieve their aspirations.

As a Childrens Complex Health Care Assistant you will work alongside our Complex Health Nurses and SEND Leads to deliver care and support to children and young people with a range of complex health needs including profound and multiple learning and physical disabilities, and life limiting conditions; as well as supporting their families and professionals who work with them. The role will include providing direct clinical care, supporting with health assessments, reviews, and transition arrangements.

Main duties of the job

Part of the Health Care Assistants time each week will be spent within Humberston Park Special School working alongside our school based Complex Health Nurses and the school staff team, delivering clinical interventions including gastrostomy feeds, tracheostomy care, baseline observation monitoring, etc. The post holder will also support the wider team with assessment of children with SEND/continuing care needs within the community, delivery of home-based health care packages, and advice and training to professionals across a variety of specialist/mainstream schools and childrens services.Whilst experience of working with children and young people with complex needs including delivery of health interventions is an advantage, full training will be provided by our Registered Nurses and Childrens Nurse Educator.
