Main duties of the job

We are seeking a Senior Practitioner Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic Care Point 2 team, supporting and deputising for the Team Manager in day to day operations, team development, and performance management. You need a strong understanding of advanced occupational therapy theories, methods, and concepts. You will need detailed organisational knowledge relating to the delivery of professional Occupational Therapy services, particularly in managing complex cases.

You should have an advanced understanding of key interventions, including: Strengths based and solution focused practice Systemic and evidence based decision making A strong grasp of the wider organisational landscape including health, housing, education, and statutory, voluntary, and independent sectors

Additionally, you will need knowledge of management strategies to confidently handle internal and external challenges. You will model, coach, and develop others, using your supervisory and leadership skills to enhance best practice, professional standards, and service outcomes.

As part of a multi-disciplinary team that supports, prevents, reduces and delays the need for long term services, you will provide specialist advice to social care professionals and social workers within the ACP2 team.

In this role you will be required to undertake strengths-based assessments in highly complex situations maintaining a sophisticated understanding and application of relevant legislation, advanced Occupational therapy skills and knowledge. You will utilise these skills to develop and implement plans of support, aimed at improving wellbeing and delivering outcomes for people.

You will manage, and support others to manage, a varied and complex caseload collaborating with people and family or friend carers. You will draw on a wide range of highly developed skills to make sophisticated professional judgements, and support others to make judgements aimed at improving wellbeing and delivering outcomes, including utilising community assets, and ensuring that eligible needs are met.

You will have a role in improving the practice of unregistered and registered social care practitioners and developing, leading, and championing best practice and professional standards. You will advise others and facilitate access to and dissemination of more specialist advice where necessary to further develop capability and professional confidence. You will be supported with professional supervision and a workload that is appropriate to your level of professional development. You will work effectively in collaboration with staff and other agencies and have an excellent understanding of all the relevant health, voluntary and private services in the area.

You will remain up-to-date and compliant with all relevant legislation and adhere to organisational procedures, policies, and codes of conduct as well as Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) professional standards and the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (Professional standards for occupational therapy practice, conduct and ethics) to uphold a high-quality, seamless service.

You will apply highly developed and sophisticated knowledge and experience to provide constructive and critical reflection and challenge, influencing others to enhance Occupational therapy practice.
