Main duties of the job

We are seeking a teacher to support Wiltshire schools to welcome and make effective provision for refugees from Afghanistan. The successful candidate will work cross-phase, supporting the capacity and developing the provision of a group of schools across the county to meet these learners needs. The job will be varied, stimulating and rewarding its a role that will be different every day.

The work might include assessment and observation of pupils and students; provision of advice and professional development to colleagues; team and demonstration teaching to model good EAL inclusive practice; working with middle and senior leaders to monitor achievement; and leading interventions with the students and pupils themselves. Youll visit the same schools regularly, spending the bulk of your time there, and will soon become a familiar face and trusted source of advice and support for colleagues in each. Youll be a problem-solver, able to adapt your practice to implement whatever works in the context of individual schools.

You will be joining a dynamic and thriving Ethnic Minority and Traveller Achievement team which includes EAL-specialist advisory teachers who will be available to support your practice and peripatetic Bilingual Assistants, including colleagues with knowledge of Afghan languages and cultures.
