A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a full-time Senior Residential Childrens Practitioner at Marshfields based in West Lynn.
As an Ofsted registered Residential Childrens Home we provide short breaks for children with disabilities, autism and/or complex health needs aged 5 to 17 yrs.
Main duties of the job
As the Senior Practitioner, you will provide leadership support and supervision to the team with a specific emphasis on striving for excellence through quality and consistency of practice. Central to this role is the ability to mentor, model, and direct best practice to Childrens Residential Practitioners to achieve the best possible outcomes for the children and young people.
The role requires one of the following qualifications: a Level 5 Leadership and Manager or a Social Work, Nursing or OT qualification.
As the successful applicant, you will have the knowledge and skills to work with children with a range of complex needs. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team; we offer a friendly and supportive working environment where learning and development is supported and valued.

The Senior Practitioner is required to sleep in and be part of the out of hours on call rota, for which a payment is made.

Principal Accountabilitiesin order of importance To promote good practice standards within the Residential Home and feedback issues to the Residential Team Manager and Assistant Residential Team Manager. To develop, implement and evaluate care plans in partnership with parents,carersand professionals. To safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people worked with by Residential staff, in conjunction with the overall staff team To chair appropriate meetings as required. To attend statutory reviews and planning meetings as required and to act as an advisor on residentialchild care. To take day to day responsibility for the Home, in the absence of the Assistant Residential Team Manager. To ensure staff seek andtake into accountthe views and wishes of residents and ensure they are familiar with the Representation and Complaints procedure and are empowered to use it. To participate in relevant County groups representing the Home or the Children with Disabilities service. To keep abreast of changes in policy, practice,legislationand research and to report regularly on such matters to the Residential Team Manager and the Assistant Residential Team Manager. To maintain and develop professional expertise and knowledge relevant to professional qualification. To assist in the training of staff, ensuring compliance with National Minimum Standards
and National Minimum Care standards to support learning,practiceand the care of young people. To undertake induction and mentoring of staff and students, including supervision and preceptorship for those undertaking the Level 3 Childrens Workforce Diploma. To collaborate and develop links with colleagues within the Childrens Services Departments and other agencies To undertake appraisal and supervision of relief bank workers, ancillary staff,students and volunteers. To ensure staff are familiar with the Representation and Complaints procedures for young people andare able toempower young people to use it.
