This post
is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing public health analytics
team within Camdens Health & Wellbeing Department. You will play a leading
role in driving forward analytical projects in partnership with policy,
strategy, and commissioning specialists to deliver better services for our
residents. This post fits into a Camden-wide analytical community of practice
to promote an analytics-led approach within the Council.
Working
with the Head of Health Intelligence, the Lead Public Health Analyst, and the
rest of the team, you will lead on the delivery of analytical projects on
topics across the health and wellbeing space as well as tacking an active role
in helping shape the tools, methods, and practices used to undertake analysis.
You will
also have the opportunity to foster and grow our NHS, industry, and academic
partnerships, working on innovative and ambitious programs to tackle key issues
such as child health equity and poverty in the heart of London.
This post
is aligned to the Digital and Data Profession
Capability Framework and will be part of Camdens Analytical Community of
Practice, including a dotted line into the Lead Data Analyst for the Supporting
People Directorate.
Main duties of the job
You will be a qualified professional with a
postgraduate degree in public health, epidemiology, or a similar numerate
discipline. You will come to us with extensive experience in public health
analysis, data synthesis, and evidence-based decision making, with strong
skills in quantitative and qualitative methods. Proficiency
in R or Python for data analysis and visualisation is highly desirable, but not
essential as training in these can be provided.
The role requires a deep understanding of public
health issues, stakeholder management, and the UK health research landscape.
Excellent communication, project management, and team leadership skills are
essential.
You'll lead innovative data analysis projects and
synthesis techniques, ensuring high-quality outputs and continuous improvement.
You'll work closely with stakeholders to translate business needs into
actionable insights and represent Camden in professional forums. Key
responsibilities include overseeing data management, ensuring compliance with
governance policies, and advancing data modelling and visualisation standards.
Expertise in statistical methods, IT, and mathematical skills is essential.
Strong project management skills are required to oversee multiple projects and manage
and mentor team members.

information into intelligence that underpins policy decisions to improve
population health and reduce inequalities. The Senior Public Health
Intelligence Analyst will be responsible for drawing together information from
NHS and non-NHS sources in traditional and innovative ways to explore patterns
and determinants of health, including health inequalities, and communicating
findings to influence decision making. Work will cover an array of topics
including health improvement, health protection, population health management,
modelling, opportunity analysis, and health care analysis and will be a mixture
of ad hoc and long- and short-term projects.
The post-holder will report to the Lead Public
Health Intelligence Analyst and line manage Public Health Intelligence Analysts
within the team. This post is aligned to Camdens DDaT-based Professional
Framework for Data Analysts, it forms part of Camdens wider community of
practice for Data Analysts and maintains a dotted line into the Lead Data
Analyst for Supporting People.
Things you will achieve:
Providing expert advice to senior staff
to enable evidence-based decision making, strategy development, service
planning, and the delivery of services.
Engaging with senior stakeholders to
progress Public Health priorities.
Planning, managing, and delivering on a
range of projects requiring potentially complex analytic input, including
negotiating and agreeing the appropriate data output, initiating and planning
workloads, setting timescales, and managing workloads across the team.
Supporting the development of robust,
scalable analytical products within the team and partner organisations,
including providing advice and assistance to
analysts on statistical, technical, and communication methods.
Using analytical software such as R, SQL,
and mapping packages in combination with software such as the Microsoft Office
suite and Git to undertake reproducible data manipulation and analysis as well
dissemination of data and intelligence, working individually and as part of a
team of analysts.
Contributing to the development of
innovative methods of analysis and working to increase the quality of
intelligence produced, including the use of reproducible analytical pipelines.
Supporting the work of the broader team,
including with quantitative and qualitative evaluation, needs assessments, and
the management of work.
Communicating with stakeholders,
