Job summary

In this role you will have responsibility for:

Working in conjunction with the Health Safety and Wellbeing Manager to develop a strategy for the most efficient and effective delivery of an occupational health and wellbeing service, ensuring plans are coordinated and that best practice methods are being used to develop proactive ways of improving the health, safety, and wellbeing of staff.

Supporting and promoting a strong and positive employee health and wellbeing culture in line with organisational and national strategies and policies, by guiding and advising the organisation on issues which are linked to the employee health and wellbeing agenda on a national and local level. Ensuring the service is proactive and continuously improves in its delivery and performance as integral part of the HR service.

Operationally managing a multi-disciplinary employee health and wellbeing service, by monitoring, auditing, and evaluating all occupational health practices and interventions being carried out within the team and develop opportunities for improvement.

Ensuring effective client case management of sickness absence and fitness to work referrals, ensuring these are undertaken in a timely and proactive manner, to assist the organisation in a key corporate priority in relation to attendance management in line with the Councils policies and procedures.

Main duties of the job

Reviewing service procedures and processes and implement changes as necessary, including producing records, statistics, and other information on a regular basis to demonstrate the contribution of the service to the organisation.

Writing reports and present at meeting forums, specific information to enable the organisation to make informed decisions linked to occupational health and wellbeing.

Providing professional guidance on the development of Human Resource policies, strategies and procedures to meet Council objectives and agendas that link to occupational health and wellbeing and people management issues; working flexibly across the HR Service on HR issues and projects to meet priority needs.

Promoting and assisting with the development of and compliance with the Councils equality, diversity, fairness and inclusion policies and plans.

Representing Human Resources and the Council as appropriate at local and regional meetings, to ensure effective development of occupational health strategies and interventions, as well as inputting into occupational safety initiatives and legislative requirements.

Discharging all duties in a professional manner.
