Are you a looking for a new opportunity, something that is innovative and really starts to challenge the status quo and make a difference?
Bradford Council has secured £4.7 million funding from the National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR) to establish a Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC).
We are building a new team of enthusiastic professionals who will work together to transform the Council into an evidence led organisation that works as an equal partner in generating evidence that is used to deliver high quality interventions and life changing services to our citizens.
We are seeking a Public Health Consultant to work with the Director to drive key areas of the programme around research governance, knowledge exchange and coproduction.
This is an opportunity to work with council leaders, the research team at the Bradford Institute of Health Research and with partners across the district.
Main duties of the job
At the heart of the north, the district possesses unmatched potential, a growing pipeline of talent, and an exceptional quality of life. But there is a ten-year life expectancy gap between the most deprived and least deprived areas of the Bradford district.
Addressing these inequalities is one of our key priorities, and doing what we have always done is no longer an option.
Our ability to address such inequalities will be improved by better research and evidence, and as a key member of the HDRC, you will be at the heart of achieving this. Our team will develop the research infrastructure that will transform understanding of our people, places, and determinants, as well as make the most appropriate use of data to reduce health disparities.
We will bring together expertise across Bradford Council, the NHS, as well as universities in Bradford, Leeds, and York to achieve our outcomes.
Lets talk about your skills and experience.
You will be either on the GMC/GDC Specialist Register or UK Public Health (Specialist) Register or within 6 months of gaining entry.
You will have in-depth knowledge of evidence based public health, methods of evaluation and quality improvement.
You will have strong analytical skills, able to utilize both qualitative and quantitative information.
You will have a strong understanding of the interfaces between health, social care and key partners (dealing with the wider determinants of health).
