Main duties of the job

The Role:

This role reports to the Consultant in Public Health for Children, Young People, and Families.

Your role will involve:

  • Collaborating with system partners toput plans in placeto protect the publics health. This includes health protection and health emergency plans as well as commissioning strategies (eg, immunisation and screening programmes)
  • Providingpublic health advice, scrutiny and challengeto ensure the local health protection system is robust and resilient.
  • Keeping a watching brieffor health hazards and threats.
  • Collaborating with others towarn, inform, and advise the publicon how to keep well and avoid illness.
  • Providingassurance to the Director of Public Health (DPH)that plans are in place across the health and care system to protect people from threats and hazards to their health and to escalate risks when necessary.

There will also be opportunities to work on other public health topics such as: health in all policies, inclusion health, mental wellbeing, and/or workforce development.
