Job summary

Were seeking experienced Social Workers to join our Mental Health Social Care Team. As a Senior Social Worker, youll play a pivotal role in providing specialist advice and assessment to individuals facing mental health challenges. Main duties of the job

  • Operate within a sound understanding and application of current legal frameworks including the Care Act, Mental Health Act, and Mental Capacity Act.
  • Provide professional leadership in cases and support unqualified workers in their practice.
  • Stay abreast of developments in service delivery, best practice, and case law to ensure high standards of service.
  • Assess the needs of adults, determine outcomes in partnership with the individual, and promote independence and well-being.
  • Monitor and review support plans to ensure they meet identified needs.
  • Maintain accurate case records and complete required reports within agreed timescales.
  • Participate in regular supervisory meetings to ensure effective communication and informed decision-making.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Social work qualification (DipSW, CQSW, Degree in Social Work or equivalent).
  • Social Work England Registration.
  • Able to evidence robust Continuing Professional Development in line with requirements of Social Work England.
  • Demonstrable skills and experience of an Experienced Social Worker, in accordance with the Professional Capabilities Framework. A commitment to maintaining Experienced Social Worker level of practice is a pre-requisite of the Senior Social Worker role.
  • Sound legal literacy- Can demonstrate an ability to apply and articulate relevant legislation including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and associated Code of Practice, and Human Rights Act 2008.
  • All post holders will work according to the Councils Values & Expectations.
  • Spoken English Duty Requirement - The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for this post.
  • Able to travel to meet service delivery requirements.
  • Available to undertake work outside of normal working hours.
  • Ability to use IT systems and software effectively to accurately record and communicate.
