SENDIASS is part of the National Information and Advice Support Service.We are arms length to the Local Authority and our main role is to give impartial and confidential information, advice and support to parents/carers, children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. We continue to adapt and develop the Service to meet the needs of our service users.
Main duties of the job
You would be responsible for a caseload of children and young people requiring SENDIASS support and advice as well as advising parents/carers/young people and professionals from across the county during help line duty. When required you would support parents/carers/young people during mediation meetings and Tribunal Hearings. Every co-ordinator is responsible for at least one volunteer to whom you will give support and regular supervision. Opportunity will be given to extend your SEND law knowledge.
You must evidence that you have a working knowledge of legislation for special educational needs and disabilities with experience of working directly with children, young people (0-25) and parents/carers. As well as being able to demonstrate you have experience in mediating during disputes.
The successful candidate will be expected to work independently and as part of a team to strive to meet the National Minimum Standards. It will be necessary for you to work with a range of other professionals across education, health, social care and voluntary sectors. You may also be required to deliver training to parents/carers/young people and other professionals.
You will need an enhanced DBS and meet safer recruitment requirements.

About us
The minimum academic requirement is aDiploma in Social Work or other professional qualification in Education or Healthcare. You will need to provide evidence at the pre-screening stage.
The use of a car and the ability to travel around across the county as and when required.
You will need an enhanced DBS and meet safer recruitment requirements.

The successful applicant will be expected to complete the IPSEA Levels 1, 2 and 3 in SEND Law within a 6-month period.
