This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to support the establishment of a new Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC),which will help address health inequalities through building research evidence around the wider determinants of health. The Leicestershire HDRC is a new nationally funded research team led collaboratively by the County Council alongside partners from local universities.

We are looking for a Business Partner to help us develop our research infrastructure, capability and capacity to enable us to understand and tackle the wider determinants of health. You will lead and manage a new team that will work to achieve our development year milestones and ensure a successful transition to a full 5 year HDRC.

Our Development Year Project Plan includes production of a research environment plan, research workforce development strategy, community engagement arrangements and research governance plan. These will strengthen the foundations for future research on the wider determinants of health in Leicestershire.

Main duties of the job

To apply for this post, you must:

  • Be educated to degree level or equivalent in a subject with good numerical / statistical content and have completed a PhD relevant to public health or wider determinants of health and/or evidence of equivalent research experience.
  • Have extensive experience and demonstrated success in delivering research results within public health/wider determinants and experience in the use of statistical and epidemiological methodologies for interpreting and understanding datasets.
  • Be able to evidence working as an effective relationship manager for a service and of leading/supporting multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Have knowledge of research methodologies and models, approaches, techniques, critiques and methods.
  • Understand the complexities and challenges of internal and external partnership working.
  • Have well-developed presentation, written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write concise and meaningful reports.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop effective relationships with external and internal individuals and organisations.
