About us
Northumberland is the most beautiful county in which to live and work but despite its numerous attractions, as Englands most sparsely populated and northern county, we have some specific public health challenges. These include a disproportionately ageing population and the often-forgotten socioeconomic impact of rurality along with an urban southeast corner which continues to face the difficulties consistent with the legacy of former coalfield areas. The Council has a reputation for innovation, and we have a longstanding culture of close joint working and integration with our NHS colleagues and the voluntary and community sector.
As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applicants from all backgrounds and want our workforce to reflect the diversity of our local communities so that we can all work for a brighter future - together.
For an informal discussion please email sandra.blackwood@northumberland.gov.uk who will arrange a time for a phone call with Gill ONeill. Executive Director of Public Health
