Job responsibilities

The Independent and Wellbeing Service, based in West Cornwall, is seeking a dedicated Vision Rehabilitation Specialist to support adults with sight loss. Youll carry out strength-based assessments, provide expert advice, and work closely with Occupational Therapists and other social care professionals to promote independence and wellbeing.

The focus of the role will be on promoting safety and independence; preventing, reducing and delaying the need for care and support; by providing advice, information, rehabilitation, equipment and adaptations to promote their wellbeing and independence. You will work closely with health partners and primary care networks and be part of a growing community intervention offer that brings together professionals from different disciplines to deliver better outcomes.

Youll have the opportunity to help shape new pathways for the visually impaired. Your focus will be on early interventiongiving people the advice and tools they need to reduce or delay the need for long-term care.

Working Pattern:

We presently have one vacancy 37 hours per week; Monday to Friday 08:45 to 17:15

Flexible working pattern is an option.

What youll need to succeed

Were looking for a qualified professional with experience in vision rehabilitation. Youll be someone who values person-centred care and puts peoples wishes at the heart of decisions. Youll be a team player who shares knowledge and supports others to grow and is committed to continuous learning and high practice standards.You will need to hold a qualification recognised by the Rehabilitation Workers Professional Network (RWPN) and be registered or willing to register with RWPN prior to commencing employment.

This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.

This position will be subject to a enhanced criminal record disclosure check.
