Join the People Commissioning Team as an Assistant Commissioning Officer and help make a meaningful impact on the lives of children and young people. In this exciting role, youll play a key part in supporting effective contract management by providing essential administrative assistance and facilitating clear, professional communication with a wide range of stakeholders.
Roles Available
We are recruiting for two Assistant Commissioning Officers across several key areas:
- Looked After Children and Care Leavers
- Children with Disabilities
- Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

The Role:
Youll be responsible for supporting an area of children and young people commissioning. The role will involve all functions to support the team to be able to commission, providing key administrative support and effective communication of information to a range of people.
In this role, you will:
- Be using data management systems and financial information to process payments to service providers.
- Accurately manage the input, output and presentation of data, as well as organise file structures to meet the teams GDPR responsibilities.
- Assist in researching information, provide analysis of performance by existing service providers and benchmark information.
- Administer provider and other meetings.
- Support the facilitation of engagement, participation and co-design with service users, providers and stakeholders.
This position will be subject to an enhanced criminal record disclosure check.
Working Pattern:
There are 2 roles available, with the opportunity to work full or part time.We offer flexible working patterns, such as hybrid work arrangements (including time in the office), compressed hours, term-time only and other alternatives.

About You
Were looking for someone who is committed and enthusiastic to work for the best outcomes for children and young people in a fast-paced environment which requires ability to prioritise piece of work, sometimes at short notice.
Youll bring:
- An ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team; and knowledge of good customer care and communicating with a wide range of people.
- A positive and flexible approach to a variety of tasks and a willingness to learn new skills and continue with professional development.
- Excellent administrative skills and experience, including assisting in gathering, processing and analysing information, production of contract documents and reports, maintaining mailboxes and databases, tracking information, and administering meetings.
- Experience to manage and process payments within the team to ensure providers are paid accurately and on time through the electronic payment system.
- Experience of gathering information to inform service specifications for the procurement of services.
- Proficiency in the use of IT systems.
