The Role:
Joining our countywide Reablement Service which comprises Occupational Therapy, Sensory Services and CQC Registered Community Response teams, you'll work with people who have significant sight and/or hearing loss to support them to live independently in their own homes.
As a Sensory Services Officer and qualified Rehabilitation Officer of Visual Impairment (ROVI), you'll be responsible for carrying out holistic assessments of reablement needs and planning reablement interventions to support across a multi-disciplinary team, including delivery of mobility and daily skills training. You'll use your knowledge and skills in vision and hearing impairment in order to set SMART goals and assist with attaining these. This will include assessing for and issuing sensory equipment, signposting and referring on to other services, as necessary.

Main duties of the job
As a highly skilled, enthusiastic, and self-motivated Sensory Services Officer, you'll have excellent communication skills and experience of working in the visual impairment sector. Experience of working with people with a hearing loss would also be desirable but is not essential, as training can be provided. Working in our fast-paced community service, you'll demonstrate effective assessment and treatment planning skills as well as a strengths-based approach to providing advice and information throughout someone's reablement journey, allowing them to problem solve and make informed decisions.

Working Patterns
As the Reablement Service operates 7 days a week, you'll be required to work weekends on a 1:6 rotational basis. We are currently undergoing a transformation process which may impact on this rotation in the future. Our core business hours are 8.30 - 5pm.
Travel Requirements
You'll need to travel across the area, and it is essential that you have a current drivers licence and access to a reliable vehicle on a regular basis. All travel will be paid from your office base.
