Occupational Therapists work closely with Social Care colleagues and Health professionals to support individuals to help themselves through realising their own goals and improving their wellbeing.

You will take a senior role in relation to complex cases and provide oversight and advice to other team members contributing to the integrated working practices. The successful candidate will have the following training, experience and knowledge:.

Main duties of the job

  • BSC in Occupational Therapy or equivalent qualification
  • Substantial post-qualification experience of working with adults in a statutory health or social care setting
  • Be registered with the HCPC and able to evidence this
  • Experience of safeguarding legislation including the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty safeguards.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Experience of coaching, mentoring and supervising other staff

The team works in partnership with all individuals requiring longer term adult social care support. Referrals to the teams will come directly from See & Solve Community, for ongoing support following Active Recovery and after a hospital discharge package has been put in place. The team works jointly, between Social Work, Occupational Therapy as well as with Sensory and Telecare colleagues.

  • Must have at least Diploma/BSc in Occupational Therapy or equivalent and have HCPC registration.
  • Completed Care Act, MCA DoLs and Human Rights Act training including Making Safeguarding Personal Safe guarding adults training
  • Post graduate qualification in clinical supervision or professional practice education.

Experience

Essential

  • Substantial post qualifying practice, where the post holder has acquired practical experience and knowledge of a range of disabilities.
  • Experience of working in a community setting undertaking home visits and assessments
  • Experience of supervising qualified staff
  • An understanding of co-production, personalisation and person centred practice
  • Experience of working in a team, supportive of colleagues and flexible in approach to team working
  • Experience of working in a multi-agency environment
  • Significant experience in the safe moving and handling of individuals including training/demonstrating skills to others.
