This post is suitable for an experienced and qualified Occupational Therapist (Dip OT, BSc Hons OT, MSc OT or equivalent) registered to practice with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). It will suit someone who has experience of a previous management role or an ambitious and experienced Occupational Therapist who would like the opportunity to gain managerial experience in a supportive and busy setting.
Main duties of the job
In this role you will be working alongside an experienced fellow manager in leading and managing an Occupational Therapy team consisting of a mix of experienced Band 6 OT staff, Band 5s, OT Assistants, Apprentices and students based at Care Direct Plus in Exeter.
The team triage incoming referrals to Adult Social Care in Eastern Devon, and complete initial telephone assessments giving advice and signposting, undertake face-to-face visits and refer onto other teams and services when required, applying a strengths-based approach to promote safety and independence.
You will oversee the standards and quality of assessment and interventions undertaken by the team, manage practice and risk including overseeing workflow, provide expert advice, deal with any complaints, work closely with other agencies, seek to further improve and develop practice and contribute to the strategic development of the Occupational Therapy role.
