Job Purpose

This Masters degree level apprenticeship is for early career professionals who study the health of populations, plan, commission, manage, deliver, monitor and evaluate health and social care policies and services.

The Apprentice Population Health Intelligence Specialist will focus on analysing health and care data to improve public health outcomes, support policy-making, and enhance the efficiency of healthcare services. The role involves working with large datasets, collaborating with government bodies, and ensuring compliance with public health regulations.

The role will be based in Devon County Council but will work on projects across the One Devon Integrated Care System, including frequent cross organisational project work with NHS Devon Integrated Care Board, Plymouth City Council, Torbay Council, local authority districts and other statutory and voluntary organisations across the wider county. The role will form a critical point of connection between these Organisations, helping to develop common approaches and collaborate on joint projects.

The post will have an impact at both a strategic and operational level by building and maintaining strong collaborative relationships with key stakeholders and colleagues at all levels. In their daily work, the postholder will interact with team members, organisational managers, internal and external stakeholders. Much of their output will take the form of reports for publication or pieces of analysis that they will present to senior managers and decision makers such as Boards and elected Councillors, and will also involve providing information to central government, other organisations and members of the public.

The Health and Care Intelligence Specialist will also have regular contact with colleagues who manage IT systems or provide specific data; have responsibility for the governance and security of data sources; or use data and information for specific purposes (for example finance or human resources colleagues).
