The current hours are 37 hours per week (part time considered).

We work on a 3 shift per 24 hours basis 07.00am to 14.45, 14.30 to 22.00, Sleeps and Waking nights from 22.00 to 7.00am and our homes are open 365 days a year.

This post also attracts enhancements for unsocial working hours: Starting rate at £17.12 per hour, rising to £19.00

  • Overnight is £22.83 per hour, rising to £25.33
  • Saturday is £25.68 per hour, rising to £28.50
  • Sunday and Bank Holidays are £34.24 per hour, rising to £38

Main duties of the job

As a Clinical Residential Team Leader, you will lead shifts, including the planning of activities and the allocation of staff. You will provide clinical training for staff at various levels. You will provide supervision for staff at Residential Support Worker level. You will have regular contact with parents, carers and professional agencies and will be asked at times to provide reports or attend meetings regarding the children and young people in our care.

Job Purpose:

The ethos of the services is to provide a home for children with complex needs in line with individual needs and care plans. To work with the children to enhance and promote the life experiences and independence skills of the young people.

This work will take place in a Childrens Home based in Devon and will include supporting the young person in accessing local facilities. We will be open 52 weeks a year and provide a service in a flexible way based on the needs of the individual young people.

The role of the Residential Clinical Team Leader is to supervise the running of shifts within the Home including staff supervision. Under the direction of the Clinical Nurse Lead for the Childrens Homes, this postholder will also oversee of the clinical aspects of the Home including staff training and medication administration audits.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Participate in the assessment of needs, development and implementation of support strategies required for the individual care plans including liaison with other professionals involved with the child, including school staff, members of Children's Services, medical staff and specialist support services, including the family unit. To undertake and support the young person with their individual and/or medical needs as deemed appropriate in the care plan; to promote the development of the young person's life experiences, independence skills and emotional wellbeing.

To liaise with the young person, their parent/carer, school and any other relevant professional regarding any issues, to update care plans annually, or when situations change. To ensure your line manager is kept informed of any changes occurring within the Home at an appropriate time. Training and supervision will be provided in line with your personal development plan.

Audit the administration and storage of children and young peoples medicines against the standards defined in medication management policies. Provide guidance and training to other staff in the implementation of the Childrens Homes medicines Standards of Practice, the administration and transport and storage of medicines and any other training requirements in line with the childrens medical needs. Work alongside the Clinical Lead and Registered Manager in assessing staff competence and completion of Clinical sign off for staff members. Communicate relevant medicines alerts or updates to staff within the home.Oversee the ordering of medical equipment and stock for the home.

To deputise for the Clinical Nurse Lead in their absence. This document outlines the duties for the time being to indicate the level of responsibility.
