Job summary

We are looking to appoint an experienced and knowledgeable Strategic Lead, Corporate Parenting, to join our senior management team in Childrens and Educations services. Were on a journey to excellence for Coventrys children, and were committed to ensure that children are at the heart of our decision-making and ensuring they receive good outcomes. Reporting to the Director of Children and Education Services, you will ensure that statutory obligations are met, maintaining high service standards, and managing resources effectively. With delegated authority, you will drive service improvements aligned with Council strategies, create a high-performance culture, and cultivating strategic partnerships for continuous improvement. A key responsibility of the role is in ensuring sufficiency of good quality homes for our children who are in our care and for SEND (commissioning of external day and residential placements) and ensuring value for money. It is a great time to be joining the service as we have had significant investment and have an ambitious programme to increase the number of our internal childrens homes from 5 to 12. This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
