Job summary

This role will be instrumental in delivering Occupational Health services to Sunderland City Council and its external customers. This exciting role will help Sunderland City Councils Occupational Health service to shape and deliver services to promote and support the health and wellbeing of its internal and external customers.

The ideal applicant will innovate and collaborate and work with customers to deliver the Occupational Health and Employee Health and Wellbeing services objectives.

As you could be required to work across a number of locations, you will need to demonstrate that you can travel flexibly.The post holder is supported by experienced clinical and administrative team including Chief Medical Officer, OH Physicians, OH Practice Nurses and administrative team.

Main duties of the job

Ensuring clinical standards are met, you will be responsible for a full range of activities including: Pre-employment health screening Health surveillance (audiometry, spirometry, skin and Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome assessments) Health screening (such as fitness to drive) Occupational vaccinations/immunisations (Flu, Hepatitis A and B) Running independent attendance management clinics Monitoring of employees health Health promotion

You will need a current registration on the NMC Register and must be on Part Three of the NMC Register (Occupational Health) and experience in the delivery of Occupational Health activities. With evidence of continuous professional development, youll have a broad range of clinical skills, the ability to write and present clearly and experience of developing and implementing protocols and standards. Provision of advice required by HR and managers regarding employees. Maintenance and accuracy of case records Analysis of trends to identify changes and improvements Ensuring employers meet their statutory requirements

Smart Cities and Enabling Services - People Management - Occupational Health & Employee Health and Wellbeing

Main purpose of job

To work within the Occupational Health Nursing Team to provide comprehensive and proactive Occupational Health Services.

Key responsibilities

Responsible for providing pre-employment health screening, health surveillance (audiometry, spirometry, skin and Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome assessments), occupational vaccinations/immunisations (Flu, Hepatitis A and B), monitoring of employees health and health promotion and run independent attendance management clinics. You will be expected to record information and communicate specified information to various members of HR and management.

Key tasks

Undertaking the delivery of the occupational health services/activities, including:

pre-employment health screening

health surveillance (audiometry, spirometry, skin and Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome assessments)

Driver Health Assessments

occupational vaccinations/immunisations, including phlebotomy

monitoring of employees health

health promotion

infection control

manage attendance management clinics

to promote and champion a positive organisation-wide culture that reflects the Councils values

work with a team within a small multi-disciplinary Occupational Health Unit, as well as independently

to work and communicate effectively in the team

to work with the team to manage the clinical diary so that services are delivered to meet the needs of the business, working across a range of clinical areas

to assist in clinical audit and the setting and monitoring of standards. This includes participating in evidence-based practice

participate in relevant project work for service and quality improvement

Responsible for the use and cleaning of Occupational Health clinical equipment.
