Job summary
Wigan is centrally located large northern town, has good transport links to cities including Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and Chester, and easy access to the West coast, Wales, and the Lake District. Wigan has a population of around 330,000, the surrounding areas, all with areas of interest and activities catering for all interests (bars/restaurants/theatres/outdoors activities/countryside and coastal holiday destinations).
Wigan has a cohort of schools rated outstanding by OFSTED, and there are many more in the surrounding areas, including independent schools.
The clinic has an annual footfall of around 37,000, both contraception and STI provision, including PreP, and is an integrated provision of levels 1-3, both contraception and STI management, prevention, outreach provision, relationship and sex education in Wigan's Secondary Schools, Health Advisor provision, and a wider sexual health leadership expectation to our key stakeholders (Primary Care etc).
The successful candidate will possess a recognised Medical degree, MRCP, registered with the GMC, and have experience, qualification, and skills of working in an integrated sexual health service. Please see job description and person specification for further details.

Main duties of the job
We are seeking a Specialty Doctor in Sexual Health to join Spectrum Community Health CIC in Wigan and Leigh. The sessions are flexible and negotiable.
This post is part of a multidisciplinary clinical team, consisting of both Band 7 and 6 dual trained clinical nurse specialists, working independently to Patient Group Directives, and a well-established team of clinical and administrative support. We have an innovative approach to clinical provision with a strong digital strategy which contributes to the flexibility of patient care but also work/life balance. You will be part of a wider sexual health team within Spectrum, which includes peer engagement from our Speciality Drs in Barnsley and Wakefield. This post is based at our Wigan Clinic for the Sexual Health care. The Wigan service has a brand-new purpose-built clinical site, part of the Wigan Town Centre's regeneration project. The new site is in the very centre of town with good links to bus and train stations.
There will continue to be a secondary level 2 provision to the population of Leigh. In addition to the new service estate, the service provision is looking to lead innovation and system change, both internally and across the borough to the wider health provider network.
