Job summary

Are you looking for a challenging and rewarding Pharmacist Management role and want to develop your skills in a new environment ? We are looking for a pharmacist to join our medicines management team.

About you: You will be a qualified Registered Pharmacist- BSc or Master's Degree in Pharmacy, holding registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council. You will have a real passion for Health and Justice pharmacy and working with others. If you are self-motivated, able to work autonomously and have experience of service improvement as well as showing plenty of initiative when it comes to handling a wide range of situations, then this could be the right role for you! Experience of working in Health and Justice services would be beneficial but not essential. Experience of line management, service improvement and leadership is essential.

Please note you will be required to travel between out North East and Yorkshire Sites HMP Full Sutton, HMP Holme House, HMP Hull, HMP Humber and HMP YOI Low Newton. Your base will be the site closest to your home address.

Main duties of the job

  • Be responsible for supporting the Chief Pharmacist with delivering safe, high quality, person- centred medicines optimisation work programs and activities
  • Support the delivery of the medicines optimisation (MO) strategy and provide clinical professional advice where required
  • Support development of staff across their region and have delegated responsibility for implementation as identified by the Chief Pharmacist. Work with the PSIRF lead to deliver improvements in medicines and controlled drugs incidents and management
  • Support and deliver cost savings and support pharmacists at site to achieve the savings identified through the SAVE programme
  • Be responsible for provision of expert advice to senior managers, prescribers, patients, service users and other key stakeholders on medication related issues
  • Support the Chief Pharmacist to utilise where appropriate national, international evidence relating to clinical governance and medicines optimisation
  • Work under the direction of the Chief Pharmacist to provide clinical professional leadership and strategic direction across the services
  • Provide strategic support in relation to the developing roles of the pharmacy teams and their integration into the healthcare Multi- Disciplinary Team (MDT)
  • Support the chief pharmacist as a senior leader to ensure systems and processes are in place to support ongoing registration with the CQC and other relevant regulatory bodies
  • Driving improvements to be well led and safe effective services
