Job summary

Spectrum Community Health CIC delivers a forward thinking and aspirational service at HMP Kirkham to support sentenced offenders experiencing drug/alcohol problems. To support this we are seeking a talented, experienced and passionate individual. An opportunity has arisen to recruit a talented, enthusiastic, determined and resourceful Drug & Alcohol Support Worker to work within this challenging service. It is essential that applicants must have Drug and Alcohol recovery experience.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will have experience and/or an understanding of:

o Effectively engaging and supporting service users with substance misuse issues and offending behaviour, using creative approaches

o Understanding of substance misuse and how this can impact on a service users recovery capital

o Supporting the delivery of triages, inductions and psychosocial group interventions

o Working within the unique challenges of a secure and diverse environment

o Working professionally, flexibly and creatively, promoting a culture of positive change

o Understanding issues of social exclusion, diversity, offending and substance use

o Working collaboratively with colleagues, prison and community services

o Adhering to policies relating to safeguarding and governance

You will be part of a wider multi-disciplinary team who provide a vast range of services, delivering primary care, mental health and substance misuse services to the population, which may include working flexibly to cover evenings, weekends and bank holidays.   • NVQ Level II (Care related) or equivalent level experience.
