Infant Feeding Support Worker

Job summary

Are you passionate about supporting families in the early days of parenting? The St Helens Wellbeing Team are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Infant Feeding Supporter Worker to join our vibrant and friendly service. Working alongside our experienced team and valued partners, you'll support parents with all aspects of infant feeding - from pregnancy through to introducing solid foods. This role is ideal for someone who is organised, empathetic, and motivated by making a difference to families' lives. Main duties of the role: You'll provide information, encouragement and support on infant feeding through 1-1 contact, phone support, home visits and group sessions.

Main duties of the job

You'll also be involved in borough-wide promotion of responsive and evidence-based infant feeding practices. While experience is welcome, it's your passion for supporting families, ability to build trust, and confidence delivering sessions that will make you stand out. We'll provide full training, and the role includes use of IT systems and digital tools to help us connect with local families.

Our service operates: Monday to Friday, 8am-8pm Weekends and Bank Holidays, 10am-4pm. Flexibility and the ability to travel across the borough are essential.

Essential

  • Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent level of experience
  • Diagnosis of Tongue Tie Training (or willingness to work towards)

Desirable

  • Training in breastfeeding management (e.g. Peer Supporter, LLLGB or UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative courses)

Knowledge

Essential

  • An understanding of Partnership working (midwifes, maternity units, etc)

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Local Authority, Health and other relevant agencies and structures
  • Knowledge of infant nutrition.

  • Experience of working within a team environment
