Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Dental Therapist to support our dental team across the East Riding sites, the successful candidate has the advantage of working salaried fulltime/part time, we will also support with a daily rate if preferred.
Working flexibly will also be taken into consideration.
Main duties of the job
To develop team dentistry applying appropriate specialised skills to a wide range of patients including dental phobic patients.
To provide evidence-based preventive dental treatment in a GDS setting to a cross section of the public who have difficulty accessing dental treatment
To work as part of a multi-skilled team providing individual customised specialist oral health advice andinstruction.
To deliver foundation training to Dental Therapist/Hygienists within a GDS setting. To deliver mentor training to undergraduate Dental Therapy/ Hygiene students within a GDS setting.
To work according to the GDC Scope of Practice for Dental Therapists including Direct Access, working alongside locally implemented Patient Group Directives.

Essential
- Diploma in Dental Therapy
- GDC Registered Dental Therapist with post registered qualification in extended skills to allow the administration of inferior dental blocks, direct access, clinical examination and IRMER radiograph interpretation and reporting.
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Training in the use of moving and handling equipment or willingness to undertake this
- Hold or currently working towards Conscious Sedation Administration Training
- Basic Life Support training or willingness to undertake this
Knowledge

- In depth understanding of oral Health
- Understanding of dental legislation and its application
- Maintain clinical registration and CPD to develop own capabilities and create culture of shared learning
- Working knowledge of equipment for the administration of oxygen and in the use of the standard emergency drug kit including CPR and use of a defibrillator
