Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Integrated Sexual Health Service to appoint an enthusiastic Pregnancy Advisory Nurse to join our Early Medical Abortion Service.
Interviews for role will take place on Monday 11th March.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will join the existing expert nurse-led, patient-focused pregnancy advisory team. The post holder will be expected to provide specialist termination of pregnancy advice, sexual health advice and post treatment support.

Essential
- Registered Nurse with current NMC Registration
- Degree/Diploma in Nursing
- Teaching/Assessing/Mentorship Course
- Abortion care certificates or willing to work towards
Desirable
- Evidence of level 7 education/university modules or equivalent knowledge relevant to the role.
Knowledge
Essential
- Knowledge of contraceptive and sexual health practices
- Working knowledge of NMC Code of Conduct, Confidentiality and Administration of Medicine
- Working knowledge of the Law relating to child protection issues in sexual health.
- Awareness of the Modernisation Agenda and its impact on sexual health services and clients
- Specialist clinical knowledge in sexual health and abortion care/or related specialties e.g. gynaecology
- Sexual health promotion
- Contraceptive subdermal implant competency
- Knowledge of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
- Awareness of research and evidenced based practice
- Ability to develop teaching materials
- Good facilitation skills and IT skills
- Understanding of confidentiality in the workplace
- Must be aware of benchmarking and clinical governance

- Clinically competent/experience in abortion care (training can be provided if developmental position)
- Significant experience acquired through specialist knowledge in topic relevant to role
- Demonstrates significant experience including working in a pregnancy advisory environment and working with women undergoing termination of pregnancy.
- Proven ability to coordinate and delegate workload appropriately
- Evidence of adjustment to Scope of Practice e.g. Consent to treatment
- Proven ability to prioritise own workload and manage tasks
- Proven ability to mentor/preceptor junior members of staff
- Proven ability to educate colleagues
