This is an exciting new job opportunity to work within our new Employment Advice Service, which is a service providing psychological therapies to people with common mental health problems. We are looking for a post-holder who will support individuals with common mental health problems to gain, return to, or retain employment.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work with adults from a wide range cultural background, using interpreters when necessary and must be committed to equal opportunities and delivering an inclusive practice. We aim for our workforce to reflect the diversity of the communities we support, and we particularly encourage applications from BAME and LGBTQIA+ communities.

This is a Hull service delivered by a partnership of sub-provider organisations, and the Employment Advisor (EA) will be expected to work collaboratively with partners within a matrix management framework. This role is integrated within the long-established NHS Hull Talking Therapy Service (formerly Let's Talk) IAPT service

To support you in these duties you will work closely with the Senior Employment Advisor(s), and also with therapists, Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners and others within the service, to ensure the client benefits from an integrated care approach.

  • Level 3 qualification in relevant subject or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of further study in vocational training, careers advice, job retention and presenteeism or equivalent experience gained through work in the field.

Desirable

  • Evidence of a good customer service background.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Basic counselling skills.
  • Knowledge of employment and disability related benefits.
  • Vocational assessment and profiling.
  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of the local labour market, local support and new initiatives, taking into account the needs of the client to support effective interventions. Including specialist schemes to help with retaining or finding employment.
  • To keep up to date with accurate information on local resources, facilities, training and employment.
  • To update existing knowledge by attending relevant training opportunities and CPD arranged by the service
