DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION MANAGER

Job summary

The GP Support Unit (GPSU) has been established to provide support to general practice in Somerset. This exciting new role will drive service delivery improvements and system enhancements within practices and PCNs across Somerset. In this role you will collaborate with GP practices, PCNs, and key partners to identify digital priorities and challenges, promote innovation, implement new technology solutions and optimise existing systems. You will also build strong relationships with system providers and stakeholders, manage projects, and foster continuous improvement in utilisation of digital technology in general practice in Somerset.

Main duties of the job

Project & Stakeholder Management

Lead digital transformation projects, ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget

Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities, define project goals, and support local transformation plans

Oversee IT project execution, tracking risks, issues, and progress

Build and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders

Service Delivery & System Support

Review and advise on system support, compliance standards, and best practices for digital continuity and disaster recovery

Ensure continuous availability and improvement of clinical systems e.g., EMIS Web

Facilitate staff learning sessions to improve system usage and digital competencies.

Contract & Vendor Management

Optimise digital service contracts to meet agreed standards.

Collaborate with vendors to resolve technical issues and maintain system performance.

Governance & Compliance

Ensure compliance with Data Security and Protection Toolkit DSPT and Digital Technology Assessment Criteria DTAC

Maintain documentation on project actions, risks, and clinical safety signoffs

Data & Reporting

Support data-driven improvements by optimising digital tools for reporting and analysis.

Promote standardisation of coding, data sets and metrics to track progress
