Job summary
As a Cardiac Technician, you will play a vital role in patient assessments, performing ECGs, monitoring vital signs, and ensuring accurate documentation for patients referred by their GP. Working across our Christie Way and Manchester Institute of Health and Performance clinics, you will be an essential part of our multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job
The Cardiac Technician will be responsible for providing diagnostic cardiology services in the community. The post holder will be highly organised and able to work effectively using their initiative. They will be a problem solver who is able to work independently and able to manage their time effectively.
The post holder will work directly with patients who have been referred by their GP for further investigations, and therefore will need to be confident in a patient facing role and putting empathy, dignity and respect at the forefront of their practice.

Job responsibilities

Participate in the effective operation of the
Cardiac Technician role within the clinic, ensuring high standards of service
delivery.

Perform accurate recordings of patient vital
signs including pulse, blood pressure, height and weight, ensuring this is
correctly documented in the patient electronic health record.

Perform Electrocardiography (ECG) recordings,
ensuring urgent results are escalated to an appropriate clinician according to
Heart Networks policy.

Download ambulatory ECG and Blood Pressure
results using clinical software,
ensuring these are correctly recorded in the patient electronic health record.

Effectively manage own time, working
independently and with own initiative.

Participate in stock management in regards to
monitors and consumables, ensuring to flag any discrepancies to the management
team to prevent impact on scheduled clinics.

Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of clinical
rooms and working areas.

Participate in infection control audits and hand
hygiene assessments, promoting best practice in patient safety and clinical
cleanliness.

To ensure clear communication with patients and
clients at all time, ensuring patients are treated with dignity, respect and
confidentiality at all times.

Take part in regular appraisals with the
management team and work towards improving professional development.

Complete all mandatory training and additional
training as requested by the organisation.

Identify areas for provision of health promotion
and offer advice or complete necessary onward referrals where applicable.

Cover basic reception duties such as answering
telephones and booking appointments when required.
