At the forefront of the GP practice, you will act as the first port of call for patients both face-to-face and over the the telephone, supporting patients to access the care that they need.

Main duties of the job

You will bring your skills and experience to life by:

  • Deliver patient centred support to patients to access the care they need.
  • Ensuring appointments are triaged effectively through digitised systems including SystmOne.
  • Provide administrative support to the practice and clinicians to ensure patients care is processed correctly and efficiently.
  • Where appropriate, signposting patients to alternative care and/or provide self-management advice and support.
  • Responding to and supporting with patient complaints.
  • Contributing effectively to overall KPI targets.

  • Capture information from patients to appropriately triage either through the practices triage model or signpost to a more appropriate service for their care needs.
  • Preparing the surgery for daily operationi.e.ensuring consultant rooms set up, reception tidy and operating as per daily check list.
  • Supporting Clinical teami.e.receiving samples,chaperoning.
  • Effective, timely & concise communication of messages to the appropriate team member toaction.

Ensuringincoming correspondence e.g.prescriptions,post, privateworkisreplied to and / or redirectedwhere necessaryfor completion of process within defined and acceptable timescales.

Essential

  • Must have PC skills will be able to use basic Word, Excel and e-mail.
  • Knowledge of Primary Care Clinical systems - desirable
  • Excellent communicator, both spoken and written.
  • Able to maintain a professional and personal approach to all patients, despite the behaviours they demonstrate and stay calm.
  • Able to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with other team members.
  • Able to effectively manage own time and workload.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and comfortable dealing with changing priorities.

  • GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
