Main duties of the job

Lead for clinical risk management processes and patient safety for adults and children across the organization including:

Oversight and governance of the waiting list risk assessment process.

Ownership of the clinical risk management and PSIRF policies and processes, ensuring that they remain up to date, relevant and are consistent with practice, procedure, and the national patient safety agenda.

Delivery of regular audits of clinical risk management processes and preparation and dissemination of documentation ensuring that lessons identified, learned are disseminated robustly.

Organisation, scheduling and co-facilitation (with L&D support) of risk management training for clinical and non-clinical staff.

Provision of staff support for clinical risk management queries and issues.

Familiarity of key national strategies affecting patient safety (national suicide prevention programme, the National Patient Safety Strategy, Patent Safety Incident Framework (PSIRF) ensuring that internal processes and procedures are aligned with these.

Undertaking and reporting on patient safety Incident investigations ensuring learning outcomes are identified and learned.

Interdepartmental liaison with key internal services leads such as Head of Performance, Clinical Governance Lead, Medication Management Lead, Safeguarding Lead, to identify and address patient safety issues.

Qualifications and Experience:

Qualified mental health nurse, current UK registration and PIN with the NMC (Essential)

Previous experience in clinical risk management and patient safety (Essential)

Qualified Non-medical Prescriber (NMP) with current registration (Desirable)

Specialist ADHD Nurse with experience (Desirable)

To work unsupervised and independently within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct. (Essential)

Expert level of understanding of the pharmaceutical treatment options for ADHD (Desirable)

Demonstrable Skills:

Demonstrable ability to connect with and provide support for children and/ or Adults

Familiarity with EPR systems, and high level of computer literacy

Willingness to learn and follow clinics standards of practice

Excellent communication skills, ability to communicate effectively with staff and patients

Sufficient IT skills to be able to navigate electronic record keeping systems

Ability to work alongside others within a multi-disciplinary team setting

Professional approach consistent with regulatory body expectations

Excellent time management and ability to manage own workload

Previous line management experience

Strong desire to uphold clinical standards and deliver best practice
