A unique opportunity arose for a new part time or full time post as a child and adolescent psychiatrist in Stepping Stones Clinic, private CAMHS in North London.You will join a dynamic MDT with 4 other CAMHS consultants and 16 psychologists and therapists.We pride ourselves in having a GOOD CQC rating as well as highly positive feedback from our patients.

Main duties of the job

This full-time or part time consultant post offers the unique opportunity to join an established and dynamic MDT team.Applications will be welcomed from candidates who are on the specialist register as a child and adolescent psychiatrist as well as having had at least 6 months experience in CAMHS NHS as a consultant.

The consultant will participate in assessment and treatment of children, young people and their families. We have clear treatment packages and the role is well supported by the rest of the clinical and admin team. The consultant will participate in service development as well as audit and internal CPD activities.

Opening Hours:

The clinics opening hours are Mondays to Fridays 8 AM 8 PM as well as Saturdays 9 1PM

Remote working:

Most of our clinicians offer some online and some face to face sessions.

Facilities:

Our new venue offers 6 Consulting rooms, a waiting room and a small staff kitchen.Further refurbishment work over the next year will add a further 7 clinical rooms as well as capacity for groups and larger workshops/training.

Clinical offer of clinic:

We provide assessment and treatment for children, young people and their families and we are also able to provide treatment to young adults up to the age of 25.The service is a dynamic service that work with our patients to form holistic care packages around their needs.We monitor our outcomes and have continuous clinical and service audits in place.We are transparent about our audit outcomes and we publish it on our website every month.We have clear care pathways for neurodevelopmental disorders as well as emotional disorders.

Team working:

We have a dynamic team, consisting of 4 Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists as well as 17 psychologists and therapists.The team has a clinical meeting once a month and a business meeting once every 3 months.Most cases has a child and adolescent psychiatrist involved as well as a psychologist or therapist.When there is a need, ad hoc meetings happen as frequently as needed with the clinicians involved in a particular case.

Audits, incidents, patient feedback and lessons learned:

Monthly quality audits as well as patient feedback and incident investigation reports feed into the lessons learned audit, which is circulated to the team and the board on a monthly basis.

Supervision and appraisal:

All clinicians have an annual appraisal.All clinicians are expected to have clinical supervision of their clinical work.

Safeguarding:

All clinicians have up to date safeguarding training.Our clinic director is the safeguarding lead.Stepping Stones Clinic also has established connections with the designated nurse of Enfield Safeguarding.

2ROLE OF THE CHILD AND ADOLESCENT PSYCHIATRIST

Role:

The newly appointed psychiatrist will work alongside 4 consultant colleagues.The post holder will be expected to do up to 60 - 80% of their time per week on site in the clinic, delivering face to face work and the remainder of the clinical work can be remotely.

The postholder will be expected to do diagnostic assessments as well as ASD and ADHD assessment.The post holder will manage risk, where needed and provide treatment as required.The role will involve writing of initial assessment reports as well as ASD and ADHD reports and follow-up letters after each session.

Support:

The post holder will be supported in their role with a typist who will type all dictated reports and letters.Additionally the post holder will be supported by a PA that will help with management of all other admin tasks.

The post holder will also be supported by a team of assistant psychologists who will do the psychometric testing for ASD and ADHD.

Additionally the post holder is supported by a team of psychologists and therapists who will help and support with providing therapy and joint working with patients.

Appraisal, supervision and PDP:

Stepping Stones Clinic is a Designated body and Dr Trudie Rossouw is the RO.All consultants are appraised and revalidated according to the GMC specification.We commission an external appraiser who reports to Dr Trudie Rossouw.

The child psychiatrists has a weekly consultant meeting where cases are discussed.The weekly meeting fulfils the role of group supervision as well as the PDP group.

Audit:

All consultants participate in quarterly quality audits, which supports their appraisal folders.Patient feedback as well as activity figures are collected, which feeds into consultant appraisal too.

Working Hours:

The newly appointed role will be 40 hours per week for a full time role.The hours can be work flexibly within the hours that the clinic is open.

This role has no on-call component.

Annual leave:

Annual leave is dependant on years of experience as a consultant and in line with the NHS leave provision.The post holder will also get their birthday as a leave day.

Study leave:

The post holder will have 5 study leave days per year.

Indemnity insurance:

The post holder will need to have their own indemnity insurance, which the clinic will re-imburse.

Pension:

The clinic will provide a contribution towards the postholders pension.The pension fund that the clinic is using is NEST pensions.

Bonus:

A 10% annual bonus will be paid out to the consultant depending on quality of work over the course of the year.

Clinical expectations:

The consultants time table will be planned as follows:

New cases will be booked for 90 minutes in the consultants diary, but the consultant will spend 60 minute with the case in a clinical meeting and then use 30 minutes for dictation after the session

Follow up cases are booked for 30 minutes in the consultants diary, but the consultant spend 25 minutes with the case and then has 5 minutes for dictation

Additionally the consultant will have 90 minutes a day for admin and 30 minutes for lunch

Once week the consultant has an additional 2 hours for report writing ( ASD and ADHD reports)

The clinical expectation of the consultants time table is 6 clinical hours a day.Initially this will be mainly new cases ( 3 4 a day) but as the consultant starts building up their case load, the time table will be a mixture of new cases and follow ups per day.

Following ASD and ADHD assessments, the consultant will offer feedback meetings to patients for ASD feedback meetings, we offer 60 minutes for the meeting and for ADHD feedback, we offer 30 minute meetings.
