this role is not in a clinical setting - We are excited to offer this unique
opportunity to help shape the future of the clinical engagement service of NHS
Supply Chain across the NHS. The c.12 month secondment will draw on
candidates significant clinical experience and expertise. The clinical
engagement function brings clinical and product expertise to the forefront of
national procurement. In doing so it ensures product assurance, reviews
innovation and ensures that clinical teams across the NHS are provided with all
relevant information required to make informed decisions when undertaking
contracting activity with the market.
Holding
credible practical experience, product expertise, being knowledgeable of the
patient pathways, Speaking the language and ensuring clinician and patient
needs are at the heart of the decision making processes, are key foundations on
which this service will be built.

Leadership Team (SLT), the Clinical Engagement Lead (CEL) will report directly
into the Director for Medical Technology in NHS Supply Chain. Alongside
others in the SLT, the CEL will offer expertise and advice, which in turn will
help to continually shape the national category strategy for all cardiology
related products and services provided by the market and required by NHS
organisations. In doing so, successful candidates will have BAU
activities but also focus on some key projects:

Main Duties:
As part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), the Clinical Engagement Lead (CEL) will report directly into the Director for Medical Technology in NHS Supply Chain. - To advise and support our management team to recruit and interview, and establish the Clinical Engagement team covering this product space. These individuals will be regionally based with responsibility to clinical departments within a given area of the English NHS.
- Along with the SLT, help shape the overall engagement process (between NHS Supply Chain and NHS stakeholders) for the wider Cardiology team. This will be done whilst working closely with National stakeholder groups across NHS England, clinical and industry associations.
- Working with our BI team to further develop our established product categorisation for enhanced clinical analytics and insights, producing detailed functional attributes for all products in scope, and reviewing the full raft of product, services and innovation scope of what can be offered under contract. Data and insights will be at the core of the information utilised for engagement and as such needs to clearly represent clinical practice and product efficacy.

- Support for the category teams in delivering relevant projects; offering advice on clinically relevant subject matters.
- Reviewing innovation from across the market.

- We are looking for a senior professional with managerial and strategic experience, and who has exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills. A person with the ability to process information, understand clinical needs, drivers, patient demographics and user experience. An individual who can gain credibility with clinicians due to product and clinical knowledge, and professional experience.
- A rounded understanding of procurement and contracting would be advantageous although this role is supported by procurement professionals.
- A deep understanding of the cardiac theatre and patient pathway through experience, and importantly cardiac product knowledge, is essential.
- Have an established network of peers within their clinical environment, and/or with products industry.
- Experience of managing projects and understanding how products are used in practice, considering varying sub-speciality areas of care in this category, which includes all elective and emergency care pathways.
- IT capable, (in particular with Excel) with an analytic and attention to detail competence. Training and support is given for those who need it, but a propensity is important.
- Willingness to travel, you will already be a car driver but depending on the meeting locations, travel may also be by public transport mileage and train travel is expensed.
- We are looking for a self-motivated individual who is comfortable with managing their own diary and driving a key set of agendas. Being able to take on a new challenge and develop expertise in relation to products is key.
- This role will require an ability to conduct detailed work at a computer for long periods and so a mental capacity for this whilst working remotely is essential.
- Confident with great energy and an engaging manner.
