Job summary

As a Senior Registered Nurse with Exemplar Health Care, you'll be at the forefront of supporting us to achieve our mission of making every day better for adults living with complex needs.

Our Senior Registered Nurses have additional training and qualifications to bring expertise around specific conditions and illnesses in the home.

Exemplar Otterburn complex needs care home in Birmingham specialises in supporting adults living with dementia, complex mental health needs and neuro-disabilities including Huntington's disease and strokes.

Our Senior Nurse is to work across our Squirrel Unit, which supports up to ten adults living with complex health needs. The Squirrel Team is trained to care for people who have tracheostomies and/or use ventilators.

Main duties of the job

Your role will involve assessing peoples care needs, leading a small Care Team, ensuring safety for service users and colleagues and completing care plans.

Youll demonstrate an excellent range of clinical skills and will be willing to teach and support other colleagues.

We are looking for experienced tracheostomy trained nurses or nurses who are willing to be trained and signed off as competent to work on the Tracheostomy Unit.You will lead by example, delivering hands-on nursing care.You willhave a person centred ethos and be committed to enriching the lives of the individuals in your care.

As we are committed to providing the best care and support to all our Service Users, the average ratio of staff in this Home is 5 Support Workers to every Nurse.

This is a highly skilled and experienced nursing role where youll be accountable and responsible for supporting peoples clinical needs.

Youllprovide the highest standards of nursing care for adults living with complex care and health needs.Our care focuses on maximising independence and building everyday living skills.

No two days will ever be the same, but your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • providing expert support and adviceto colleagues
  • assessing, planning and providing person-centred nursing care for the people we support
  • the safe administration of medication
  • promoting health and wellbeing
  • managing situations when people display behaviours of concern
  • promoting choice, dignity, independence and respect.
