Job summary

Outpatient Network is currently seeking Cardiothoracic Anaesthetistto join our weekend outpatient services in Coventry & Warwickshire

We are currently supporting Coventry & Warwickshire to help with patient throughput for those awaiting Cardiothoracic Surgery.

The service will run on both Saturday's and Sunday's

Main duties of the job

  • Conduct preoperative assessments to evaluate patient risks and develop tailored anesthesia plans for procedures such as coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valve replacements, and lung resections.
  • Provide intraoperative care, administering anesthesia and maintaining precise control of heart and lung function throughout surgery.
  • Ensure advanced airway management and closely monitor patient vital signs, including cardiac and respiratory status, intervening when necessary.
  • Collaborate closely with surgeons, operating department practitioners (ODPs), and the wider perioperative team to ensure a seamless and safe surgical process.
  • Oversee postoperative care, managing pain relief and monitoring patient recovery in the ICU, while addressing any complications related to anesthesia.

Requirements:

  • Medical degree with specialization in anesthesiology.
  • Proven experience in cardiothoracic anesthesia.
  • Strong decision-making skills and the ability to work under pressure in a high-stakes environment.
