Job summary

Croydon NHS Hospital is in search of a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Interventional Radiologist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will specialise in Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) procedures for head and neck lesions and will play a pivotal role in delivering essential diagnostic services to our patients. Main duties of the job

Perform Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) procedures on patients with head and neck lesions, including thyroid nodules, lymph nodes, salivary gland masses, and other soft tissue masses.

Utilise ultrasound or other imaging modalities to accurately target lesions and conduct FNA procedures with precision and proficiency.

Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the FNA procedure, addressing any concerns or questions raised by patients.

Obtain adequate and representative samples for cytological examination, adhering to established protocols and guidelines for head and neck FNAs.

Prepare and label FNA specimens for cytological evaluation, ensuring proper handling and documentation of all collected specimens.

Interpret cytology slides to identify cellular morphology, architectural features, and diagnostic criteria specific to head and neck pathology, providing accurate and timely diagnostic assessments.

Collaborate closely with referring clinicians, otolaryngologists, head and neck surgeons, oncologists, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to facilitate comprehensive patient care management.

Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient cases, review imaging findings, and contribute to treatment planning discussions.

Maintain accurate and detailed records of FNA procedures, specimen collection, imaging findings, and patient information in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.

Excellent ultrasound skills and proficiency in image-guided procedures, with experience using advanced imaging modalities such as CT and MRI.
