Main duties of the job

Assisting with Hysteroscopy procedures, monitoring patient outcomes and acting as a patient advocate whilst undergoing procedures.

Outpatient Network is seeking a dedicated and experienced Hysteroscopy Nurse to join our team. The Hysteroscopy Nurse will play a crucial role in assisting with hysteroscopic procedures, providing high-quality patient care, and ensuring the smooth running of the hysteroscopy unit. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in gynaecology nursing and a passion for delivering exceptional patient experiences.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with Hysteroscopic Procedures: Prepare patients for hysteroscopy procedures, including obtaining informed consent, and assist the surgeon during the procedure as required.
  2. Patient Care: Provide compassionate and holistic care to patients undergoing hysteroscopy, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being throughout the procedure and during the recovery period.
  3. Monitor Patients: Monitor patients before, during, and after hysteroscopy procedures, including vital signs, response to anesthesia, and any signs of complications. Take appropriate action in case of adverse events.
  4. Instrumentation and Equipment: Ensure that all hysteroscopy equipment and instrumentation are set up correctly and in good working order prior to procedures. Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment as needed.
  5. Documentation: Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in patient records. Maintain thorough and up-to-date documentation in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
  6. Patient Education: Provide pre-procedure and post-procedure education to patients and their families, including information about the procedure, potential risks, and post-procedure care instructions.
  7. Collaboration: Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team, including surgeons, anaesthetists, and theatre staff, to ensure coordinated and efficient patient care.
  8. Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the hysteroscopy unit, contributing ideas for process improvement and implementing best practices to enhance patient care and safety.
  9. Professional Development: Stay abreast of current trends and developments in hysteroscopy nursing through continuing education, attending relevant conferences, and participating in professional organisations.
