Job responsibilities

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Urodynamic Nurse to join our team. The Urodynamic Nurse will play a crucial role in conducting urodynamic testing procedures, assessing patients with lower urinary tract symptoms, and providing comprehensive care under the direction of a Consultant Urogynaecologist or Urologist. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Perform urodynamic testing procedures, including cystometrogram (CMG), uroflowmetry, pressure flow studies, and electromyography (EMG), in accordance with established protocols and guidelines.
  2. Assess patients with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) to determine the need for urodynamic testing and develop individualised care plans.
  3. Educate patients about urodynamic procedures, including the purpose, process, and potential risks or complications, to alleviate concerns and ensure informed consent.
  4. Prepare and maintain urodynamic equipment and supplies, ensuring proper functioning and adherence to infection control standards.
  5. Assist the Consultant Urogynaecologist or Urologist during urodynamic testing procedures, providing support and assistance as needed.
  6. Monitor patients during urodynamic testing, observing for signs of discomfort or adverse reactions, and intervening promptly to ensure patient safety and comfort.
  7. Record and interpret urodynamic test results accurately, documenting findings in patient records and communicating results to the healthcare team.
  8. Collaborate with other members of the multidisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals, to coordinate patient care and optimise treatment outcomes.
  9. Provide patient education and counselling on bladder health, pelvic floor exercises, and strategies for managing urinary incontinence or other urological conditions.
  10. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and research projects related to urodynamics and urinary tract disorders, contributing to advancements in clinical practice and patient care.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  1. Registered Nurse (RN) with current licensure and in good standing with the relevant regulatory body.
  2. Specialised training or certification in urodynamic testing procedures is preferred.
