Main duties of the job

The role of the Deputy Head of Clinical Services will be to support the Heads of Departments in ensuring the day-to-day operational management of the clinical services are line with best practice. Therefore it is a requirement that you are a strong leader working in a senior clinical role as you will be required to problem solve and provide direction enabling services to run safely and effectively which may on occasion require you to step in clinically. Communication is a key part of this role as you will be required to influence and change/challenge practices at all levels.

Oaks Hospital is a 58 bed facility including 18 ambulatory bays, 4 laminar flow Theatres and an Endoscopy Theatre The role A commitment to the development of high quality evidence based acute care is essential, combined with personal drive, enthusiasm, creativity and resilience. The role is ideal for a senior clinical leader aspiring to a role as Head of Clinical Services (Matron). You will be working in collaboration with the Hospital Head of Clinical Services (Matron), to assist in driving sustainable excellence in safety and quality of care and services. It will also involve supporting the Quality agenda by monitoring achievements against required standards, identifying risks to quality of care and services and planning, recommending /implementing changes for continuous improvement. The role of the Deputy Head of Clinical Services will be to support the Heads of Departments in ensuring the day-to-day operational management of the clinical services are line with best practice. Therefore it is a requirement that you are a strong leader working in a senior clinical role as you will be required to problem solve and provide direction enabling services to run safely and effectively which may on occasion require you to step in clinically. Communication is a key part of this role as you will be required to influence and change/challenge practices at all levels. You will be responsible for assisting in the progression of meaningful changes to patient pathways and ensuring they are embedded into the service. The Deputy HOCs will act as a lead nurse for all specialities, providing expert advice to nursing staff and the Multi-Disciplinary teams and taking on the duties of the Head of Clinical Services in their absence. You will have a broad range of knowledge and experience to support quality governance, incident management and data analysis and action. * Registered Practitioner with experience in wide areas of clinical specialities i.e Acute/Elective Surgery, Medicine. * ENB 998/ SLIP or equivalent teaching qualification * Degree level qualification in Clinical Practice or working towards * Academic and analytical in report writing * Previous experience of line managing clinical departments * Experience/evidence of: * Development/evaluating teaching programmes * Innovation in clinical practice * Policy development * Completing and developing clinical audit programmes * On-going professional development * Ability to self-direct/self-motivate, make decisions and generate ideas * Well-developed understanding of research and development and clinical effectiveness approaches to care * Ability to manage change and challenge poor performance and practice. * Interpersonal skills in managing conflict * Ability to lead and influence a positive culture through compassionate leadership. * Commitment to the development of the clinical practice of others * Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiating and influencing skills Benefits * Attractive private benefits package including: contributory pension scheme, private healthcare and life assurance * 25 days' annual leave plus 8 day's Bank Holiday * Free onsite parking and a subsidised staff restaurant * Access to the Ramsay Academy - We invest in our people by creating real development opportunities and career pathways supported by structured learning curriculums About us Ramsay Health Care UK is a well-established global hospital group with over 50 years' experience.
